So we've just had an extraordinarily successful Band Camp with such a great group of folks! Band Camp was from August 18-22 and we had pizza, games (HOWDY SAILOR), ice cream, worship, and tons of fun! We've even got a video! All of our members individually pulled a big load this past week getting things set up and ready, but I believe I can speak for all my sisters when I say it was totally worth the work. We all cannot wait for the semester to begin and get started learning drill!
Who else is ready to kick off Fall 2013?? The ladies of Iota Beta are pumped for a new semester with new band members, new memories, and new challenges!! Tiger Band Camp 2013 was a huge success and the band sounds awesome! Even though our first game is over a month away, we're excited to put the new drill on the field and unleash some Latin flavor on our little East Texas town! We've been getting to know the freshman ladies that have joined the ranks of the ETBU Tiger Band and we love every last one of them. We can't wait to get started on the MC process this semester! (The Omicron class could be the best one yet ;)) Informational meetings, social events, bids, MC tests, and degree are already on the calendar. We can't wait to see what these ladies have to offer and how their fresh perspectives can help us better serve our band and each other. Good luck to everyone everywhere kicking off the semester the next couple of weeks! We're excited to hear about all the ways that everyone is serving their university bands all around the world!!
The ladies are back in Marshall and ready to get down to business! We all had great summers at camp, overseas, at home, and everywhere else our lovely sisters roamed, but now we're back to school and excited to get to work planning ETBU Tiger Band Camp 2013. We're getting ready for our first official TBS meeting in just a few minutes and a joint band leadership meeting with our KKY brothers and Tiger Band drum major tonight at 6 to discuss uniform checkouts, music, rehearsal times, and band hang outs.
Get excited for band camp, Tigers!!
Courtney had a blast on her mission trip to Ethiopia...
... Krista had a great summer working summer staff at Highland Lakes Camp...
... and Sarah had an amazing time studying abroad in England and visiting family in Japan. These are just a few snapshots from our summer. We're looking forward to another great year at ETBU and hope your summer was incredible as ours!!
Banquet was a success!! TBS/KKY banquet and joint ritual happened April 26, 2013. It was great to see our conditional members and a couple of our Alumni, and TBS celebrated our 10th birthday. Sorry we're getting our post up so late but we've all had crazy busy summers. Cortney is in Ethiopia for a month, Sarah is studying abroad in England, Krista's working all summer at a camp, and Mandy is planning a wedding!! We're excited to get started on planning marching season, getting ready for Omicron class, and the rest of our Fall semester here at ETBU!!
We have had such a great time at the 2013 SWD Convention hosted at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX! It was such an amazing experience. Three of our actives and one of our conditional members went to participate in various workshops and serve as delegates in committees. Our chapter, Iota Beta, was chosen as proxy for TAMU Commerce and our VPM, Courtney Gallegly, was chosen to sit as chair for a committee! We are so thankful to Courtney who helped put the name of Iota Beta out there for other chapters to hear as she read the committee report at the separate session on Saturday, April 13. We learned so much from the workshops and speakers and we are so excited to implement all the new information into the upcoming semesters. It was a great time to grow as a chapter and as sisters in the bond. Hopefully we'll be able to get 100% of our actives next year! GO SOUTHWEST! ALLEYOOP!
